One
of the best-kept secrets on the island is the Friends of
the Arts Concert Series located at the Planting Fields
Arboretum in Upper Brookville (www.fotapresents.org.
For years, the best-known acts in jazz and rock have
been playing to excited crowds at the Arboretum. What
makes these concerts so unique is that you can have the
option to watch from the open-air lawn or under the tent
in front of the stage. Bring a towel or a beach chair
and relax to some of the best music in the world. From
June 10 - August 31 of this year acts such as Wynton
Marsalis, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, and Hootie and
the Blowfish will be performing. Located on over four
hundred sprawling acres on the Gold Coast of Long
Island, the backdrop for the concert couldn’t be more
scenic and historic. Be sure to check out the Arboretum
while you’re there for a seldom seen assortment of
flowers in the many greenhouses and gardens of the
former Coe Estate that is now a museum.
